Now That Wasn’t So Bad

I’m so damn proud of me.
Halloween passed and all I had was one single Kit Kat.
One.
Uno.
Nada mas!
We were absolutely slammed with kids and ran out of candy within an hour. Breanne and I took the kids around the neighborhood while Sandy, Jason & Nat stayed home and doled it out. Aaron had a youth function at church.
A couple of observations from this year:
We saw twice as many kids 13 or older than under.
There was an incredible amount of neighborhood involvement, folks sitting out and visiting. It really was fun.
Some folks spend a lot of time and money decorating their yards for Halloween.
Some folks spend no time or money decorating themselves for Halloween. We saw a lot of “I’m dressed as a teenager” costumes.
The entire “spooks” thing isn’t much fun until you get to be about 7 or 8 years old. My GK’s were ver-r-r-ry picky on which house they would go up to. More than once they shrieked, shivered and cried.
Is there anything cuter than a 2 year old saying “Twick O Tweet”?
Is there anything sadder than a 18 year old saying “Trick or Treat”? Unfortunately there is…the drunk middle aged witch sitting spread eagle on the curb “watching” her kids going door to door. Yeah, that was kinda….stupid.
It’s not my favorite event by any stretch of the imagination but this year was fun. I hope it continues the trend.
Now if only I could find some candy…..
